Middlebury girls’ hockey winds up 4-1 before Christmas break
MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team won big twice last week to improve its record to 4-1.
The Tigers return to action at home next Monday and Tuesday with a pair of tough home games — vs. Spaulding on Monday and Northfield on Tuesday, both at 7 p.m. Northfield is the only team to have defeated the Tigers, and Spaulding and Northfield played a competitive game last week.
On this past Wednesday, the Tigers topped host Missisquoi, 7-1, as Tulley Hescock and Andi Boe led the attack with two goals apiece. Emma Best, Helen Anderson and Allie White also scored for the Tigers, and goalie Baily Ryan backstopped the win. The 2-2 T-Birds scored first before the Tigers scored seven straight. MVU goalie Hannah Bockus stopped 38 shots.
On Saturday, the Tigers enjoyed their home opener with another 7-1 win, this time over South Burlington. Boe (two goals and an assist) and Hescock (goal, three assists) were the top point-getter, and Anderson, Molly Wetmore, Julia Carone and Angela Carone tacked on a goal apiece. Rowan Hendy stopped eight shots for MUHS, and Rebel goalie Tashia Pashby-Rockwood made 31 saves.
