Storm knocks out power in Bristol

Last night’s snowstorm knocked out power to some customers in Bristol, police chief Kevin Gibbs said. The outages are centered in Bristol Village. Gibbs said Green Mountain Power reported that the outages could be fixed by this evening, and that crews planned to shut off power to neighboring areas in order to safely work on the damaged lines. Stores and businesses downtown, like Shaw’s, are open.
If power is not restored tonight, Gibbs said town officials plan to open an emergency shelter. Anyone who has questions or is in need of emergency equipment, like a generator, should call the Bristol Police Department at 453-2410.
