Local schools cancel afterschool activities on Tuesday

ADDISON COUNTY — Afterschool activities as most Addison County schools were called off on Tuesday because of the bad weather.
As much as eight inches of snow or freezing rain has been forecast for the area, and precipitation had begun to fall by noon.
Addison Central Supervisory Union Superintendent Peter Burrows sent out a message a little bit after noon saying that “due to deteriorating weather conditions, all ACSU after school activities have been canceled today, Tuesday, Dec. 9.”
Officials in the Addison Northeast Supervisory Union soon after that said the same was the case for schools in that Bristol-area district.
The Addison Northwest website posted a message saying afterschool activities and sports for today were cancelled “with the exception of the Ferrisburgh Central School 6th-grade overnight and the live wire program will remain open. We will be closing the central office after it is determined that all students have arrived home safely from bus transportation.”
In Brandon, the Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union cancelled all afterschool activities and events for this evening except for the Brandon School Board meeting scheduled for 6 p.m.at Neshobe School. RNeSU officials said all decisions about school on Wednesday will be made by 6 a.m. tomorrow morning.
