Exhibit explores imagination through photos
MIDDLEBURY — While the camera is usually thought of as a tool for recording the facts of the real world with great exactitude, it can also be used to explore the wonders of the imagination. PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury’s newest juried exhibition, “Dream, Fantasies and Illusions,” this other aspect of photography. An opening reception is on Halloween, Friday, Oct. 31, from 5-7 p.m.
For this exhibition, the gallery sought photographs of any kind that created dream worlds, spun fantastic tales, or suggested imaginary illusions. The juror team of Richard Selesnick and Nicholas Kahn chose 40 images for this exhibition, which seems perfectly timed for Halloween festivities. Many of these images evoke the scares people are gripped by at October’s end.
“Dream, Fantasies and Illusions,” is on exhibit Oct. 21-Nov. 14. For more information, visit www.vtphotoworkplace.com/id267.html.
