Opinion: Former governor endorses McEathron

I’m quite impressed with Calvin McEathron, who’s running for the Legislature from Middlebury.
His commonsense platform is focused on strengthening Vermont’s sluggish economy and increasing opportunities for all Vermonters, both young and old. He’s offered innovative ideas to reduce college tuition, stem the exodus of our workforce and make Vermont a more affordable place to live. I’ve gotten to know Calvin and am convinced that his honest and hardworking attitude will make for an exceptional legislator.
As an independent, he provides the balance that Montpelier sorely needs. He’s a smart but grounded candidate who can ignore party lines and work with everyone to make Vermont a better state. Forty-two years ago  I first ran for the House; Calvin reminds me of … well, a younger me! His energy, enthusiasm and balanced approach are just what we need in these challenging times.
I hope you’ll join me in voting for Calvin McEathron for state representative.
Jim Douglas
