County chamber plans Tuesday candidates forum

MIDDLEBURY — The Addison County Chamber will be hosting a candidates’ forum Tuesday, Oct. 7, focusing on contested races for the Vermont House of Representatives.
The forum will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Ilsley Library Community Room in Middlebury. Paul Ralston, owner of Vermont Coffee Company and outgoing Vermont state representative, will be moderating the event.
Many of the district’s seats are being contested during this election cycle — including those in the Vergennes area, Bristol area, Bridport/New Haven/Weybridge area and Middlebury — and the majority of the candidates are expected to participate. Read more about the candidates here.
Likely topics for discussion include:
• Vermont state budget and the resulting deficit
• Healthcare/single payer system
• Economic development
• Property taxes and school funding
Questions may be posed by the audience directly to a candidate(s) either verbally or people can bring questions written on a card that can be handed to the moderator to ask. There is no cost to attend. RSVPs are appreciated by contacting the chamber at 802-388-7951 or [email protected].
