Opinion: Smiley earns a vote of support

I would like to endorse Susan Smiley as a candidate for the Vermont House representing Bridport, New Haven and Weybridge.
Susan has practiced organic farming on her 150-acre farm in New Haven for the past 35 years while raising four children there. She has also done sourcing and special projects for two local companies, Earth’s Best Baby Foods (continuing the work after the company left the area) and Vermont Coffee Co. In the meantime she has been active with the ACORN food cooperative, Northeast Organic Farmers’ Association and the local Amistad project, transporting farm workers to medical appointments.
Susan is working hard to meet the voters of Addison-5 by knocking on every door in the district. She has shown that she is willing to listen to every point of view as she prepares for legislative service. I think the combination of her strong work ethic, inquisitive mind and ability to find solutions after sorting through a variety of opinions will serve the citizens of Bridport, New Haven and Weybridge well in the Vermont Assembly.
Please join me in voting for Susan Smiley for Vermont House. Remember, early voting has already started. By contacting your town clerk you can cast your ballot from the comfort of your home any time between now and Nov. 4.
