Rundown of local legislative candidates

ADDISON COUNTY — When voters in Addison County go to the polls for the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 4, they will have several contested races for Vermont House seats.
In the past few months the Addison Independent has published profiles of candidates involved in competitive elections. Click on the links below to read about these candidates.
Democratic candidates for the Addison-1 (Middlebury) House seat:
•  Incumbent Betty Nuovo
•  Amy Sheldon
Independent candidates for the Addison-1 House seat:
•  Calvin McEathron, a Middlebury College student
•  Tom Hughes, former UD-3 school board member
In Addison-3 (Vergennes, Ferrisburgh, Addison, Panton and Waltham) two incumbents are running:
•  Democrat Diane Lanpher or Vergennes
•  Republican Warren Van Wyck of Ferrisburgh
Two challengers in the two-seat district are:
•  Republican Peter Briggs of Addison
•  Democrat John Spencer of Addison
Addison-4 (Bristol, Montkton, Starksboro and Lincoln) is also a two-seat district. The two incumbents are:
•  Democrat Michael Fisher of Lincoln
•  Democrat David Sharpe of Bristol
Two challengers in the two-seat district are:
•  Republican Fred Baser of Bristol
•  Republican Valerie Mullin of Monkton
An incumbent faces one challenger in the Addison-5 district, which represents New Haven, Bridport and Weybridge.
•  Republican incumbent Harvey Smith of New Haven
•  Democratic challenger Susan Smiley of New Haven
The incumbent running unopposed to represent Cornwall, Goshen, Hancock, Leicester, Ripton and Salisbury in the Addison-2 distrct is:
•  Democrat Willem Jewett of Ripton
For the one seat representing Benson, Orwell, Shoreham and Whiting in the Addison – Rutland district there is one newcomer on the ballot:
•  Independent Alyson Eastman of Orwell
Addison County, Huntington and Buel’s Gore, 2 Seats
•  Democratic incumbent Claire Ayer of Addison
•  Democratic incumbent Christopher Bray of New Haven
