Opinion: ‘Low-key’ House hopeful urges support for McEathron
Like many of my fellow Middlebury residents, I am interested in supporting the best ideas and in encouraging the most well motivated people to work on behalf of Middlebury and Vermont. Recently I’ve encountered a fresh voice among us, someone who is not afraid of hard work and who has no more patience with the same old tired “politics as usual” than I do. I think that you will want to remember his name; it is Calvin McEathron.
As an independent on our Nov. 4 ballot, he is quite a breath of fresh air among those running in the 2014 contest to fill Middlebury’s two seats in the Vermont House of Representatives race. The voters of our Addison-1 district deserve to have a good choice; this time we finally do. When you take a peek at the CalvinForMiddlebury.com website, you’ll find plenty of great reasons to decide to vote for this insightful native Vermonter. I care a great deal about the future of Middlebury, so I invite you to join me in entrusting forward-thinking Calvin McEathron with a vote.
Tom Hughes
Middlebury
Editor’s note: Hughes is an independent candidate for the Middlebury House seats and when asked about the status of run he said he is still in the race and is “very happy to provide the voters of Middlebury with a choice by having my name on the ballot, but my campaign is low-key.”
