Police said that Campeau had convinced a friend to provide her with a ride to Wheelerville Road under the belief they were taking Campeau to her parents’ camp to pick up personal property. The camp did not belong to Campeau. When this information was discovered, the other person involved provided troopers with information regarding the incident. While navigating the turn, police said Cloutier’s vehicle hit head-on a westbound 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Thomas Blair, 45, of Rochester. Blair advised that he attempted to avoid the collision, and in doing so sideswiped a row of parked vehicles, damaging three of them. One of the parked cars sustained a broken taillight and slight bumper damage, one sustained moderate rear-end damage, and one is estimated to be totaled. Cloutier was transported to Porter Hospital by Middlebury EMS for a suspected broken leg.
Both Cloutier’s Stratus and Blair’s Ram were totaled.
