Opinion: Boy’s gift of coins to Porter a meaningful donation
At Porter Hospital, in late July, a young boy demonstrated a very simple act of kindness. He walked up to a volunteer in the front lobby and handed him a baggie filled with change — $6.19 to be exact — as a donation. He did not leave his name, how he had raised so much, or why he was donating the money. He turned and walked away.
One of my jobs here at Porter is the first step in the processing of all donations. This was one of the most meaningful gifts I have ever had the honor of counting and documenting. I know that every cent will go toward healing one of our community members. The only way I could think of to thank this boy for his generosity, was to express my deep appreciation through this letter.
