Field Days to open Tuesday with farm animals, food and fun on tap
ADDISON COUNTY — Visitors at this year’s Addison County Fair and Field Days can expect all the familiar agricultural exhibits and competitions, in addition to a few new attractions.
The 66th annual fair will open Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. and run through Saturday evening, when the midway closes at midnight.
Organizers say the first change fairgoers will notice this year the introduction of wristbands (or bracelets) that will be issued at the gates instead of hand stamps. Everyone will have a bracelet put on their wrist after paying the gate admission or surrendering their complimentary or purchased pass.
In addition, organizers said they have put more funding into Friday night’s tractor pulls, which will be put on by New York Tractor Pullers. Expect lots of smoke and excitement.
Six hay structures have also been created and will be located alongside the fence next to the ticket booths. The main admission gate will now be off the middle of the main parking lot, across from the Lucien D. Paquette Exhibit Building. The upper gate by the midway rides is now closed.
Volunteers and participants must have a pass to receive a wristband. If you are a participant and you have questions, please see your superintendent.
Green Mountain Passport holders will now receive a $2 price reduction any and every day off the regular gate admission.
