Panthers best host St. Albans

ST. ALBANS — The Middlebury Panthers concluded their Champlain Valley Swim League regular season on Thursday by outpacing host St. Albans, 245-210. Middlebury finished the campaign with a 3-4 mark.
Next up for the Panthers will be hosting their CVSL competitors in the Middlebury town pool on Friday and Saturday in the league’s championship meet.
The following weekend brings the Vermont summer championship meet, which will be held at Hartford’s Upper Valley Aquatic Center on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 2 and 3.
Against St. Albans this past Thursday, four Panthers won three races apiece to help their team to the win: under-8 girls’ swimmer Ivy Kate Doran, U-8 boys’ swimmer Thomas Denton, U-12 boys’ swimmer Devon Kearns, and U-18 girls’ swimmer Courtney White.
U-14 boys’ swimmer Julian Schmitt chipped in with two victories, while Ellie Ross, Jacob Brookman, Izzie Olson, Will Carpenter, Meghan Denton, Connor McNamara, Holly Staats, Harriet Milligan and Mary Ann Eastman won a race apiece. The teams deadlocked in the relays with eight wins each.
