ADDISON COUNTY — The Vermont State Police are investigating a rash of vandalism and thefts in the Bristol and Lincoln areas that occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on Monday. Police tallied five separate incidents.
Thefts from vehicles were reported from Woodland Drive and Lover’s Lane in Bristol, as well as West River Road in Lincoln. The Lincoln General Store also reported someone attempted to make entry into the store by breaking a window of the front door.
Thefts of money, boots and a firearm were reported. Chief Gibbs of the Bristol Police Department is also investigating a theft from a vehicle on Garfield Street in Bristol.

In other recent activity, VSP:
•  On June 29 stopped a motor vehicle driven by Jerry Dunbar, 25, of Middlebury on Route 7 in New Haven just south of the state police barracks. Police said Dunbar was known to have a criminally suspended license at the time of the stop. Police report that after the vehicle pulled to the side of the road, Dunbar and passenger Christine Sparks-Freegard, 19, of Bristol switched seats and Sparks-Freegard drove off. Troopers and Bristol police attempted to lay spike strips in the road to stop the fleeing vehicle. Sparks-Freegard was able to avoid the spike strips and continued out Route 125 toward New York.
At this time the pursuit was terminated, due to the offenders being identified. Police said the pursuit covered approximately five miles and reached speeds of 30-40 mph.
Later that night police in Ticonderoga, N.Y., also engaged in a pursuit with the same vehicle. Sparks-Freegard and Dunbar were arrested at that time.
Vermont State Police said they will apply for arrest warrants for both Dunbar and Sparks-Freegard on charges including violation of conditions of release, attempting to elude a police officer and driving with a criminally suspended license.
•  On June 29 pulled over a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Sara Wilbur of Sudbury on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh, and cited Wilbur for driving with a criminally suspended license. Police also noted that there were active warrants out in Chittenden County for the arrest of a passenger in Wilbur’s car, 38-year-old Christopher Wilbur of Sudbury; so police arrested Christopher Wilbur and lodged him at the Chittenden County Correction Facility.
•  On June 30 at 12:18 a.m. stopped a motor vehicle driven by Shawn Thurber, 21, of Bristol on Route 17 in New Haven for defective equipment. Police cited Thurber for driving under the influence of alcohol.
•  On June 30 at approximately 3 p.m. received a report that a 10-12-foot row boat occupied by two boaters on Lake Champlain in Addison was stranded. According to the report, the boaters, who were vacationing from Chile, had been on the water for approximately three hours and could not row back to shore due to high winds. VSP troopers, Addison County Sheriff’s Department deputies, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Addison Fire Department were notified of the incident. The Addison Fire Department deployed their water rescue boat from the Champlain Bridge Marina and were able to assist the two boaters back to shore. The boaters did not require medical assistance.
•  On July 1 at 6:55 a.m. responded to a two-car motor vehicle crash on Route 22A in Addison. Police report that Mona Rogals, 52, of Orwell attempted to pass a 2005 Mazda MZ6 driven by Arion Loomis, 30, of Castleton as it appeared the Mazda was stopping. But, Loomis instead attempted to make a U-turn without, police said, properly signaling. Rogals’ 1993 Geo Prizm struck  Loomis’s Mazda in the driver’s side. Both vehicles had to be removed from the scene. The accident is under investigation.
•  On July 1 issued a press release saying state police had received reports of a burglary in Granville on June 27 at 10:15 a.m., suspicious activity in Hancock later that day at 10:39 p.m., and a citizen dispute in Hancock on June 29 at 9:50 a.m. No details were provided.
•  On July 1 received a report from Cassandra Franklin, 30, of Ripton that her residence in Ripton was vandalized between 4 and 9 p.m. Rocks were used to break two windows and damage the vinyl siding on the residence. Anyone with information regarding this vandalism is asked to contact state police.
•  On July 5 at approximately 10:25 p.m. responded to a home on Fisher Road in Orwell for a report of suspicious activity. State police were told that a male with a hood over his face entered the residence through anunlocked door, looked around and left. The only person at the residence during the time of the offense was a juvenile. The intruder was described as a tall male with a hood over his face. If anyone in the Orwell area saw anything suspicious at that time they are asked to call state police in New Haven at (802) 388-4919.
•  On July 6 at 6:05 p.m. responded to a one-vehicle crash that occurred at the junction of Route 125 and West Street in Cornwall. State police report that Elane Lefebvre, 59, of Gatineau, Quebec, lost control of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle she was driving while traveling over loose gravel on the shoulder of Route 125. Lefebvre’s motorcycle fell to the pavement causing her to fall and slide on the pavement. Lefebvre’s motorcycle sustained very minor damage; however Lefebvre was injured and transported to Porter Hospital in Middlebury for lower leg and arm injuries. Police said speed was not a factor in the crash.
•  On July 7 at 1:42 p.m. responded to a single-vehicle crash onQuaker Village Road in Weybridge. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Michael Brouillard of Brandon, told police the vehicle, a 2008 Ford F350 pickup, had a mechanical defect that caused him to lose control and go off the roadway, striking trees and causing damage to the vehicle and the trailer in tow. Police cited Brouillard for driving with a license that was suspended criminally.
