Hamilton recognizes New Haven’s Scott
CLINTON, N.Y. — New Haven resident and Mount Abraham Union High School graduate Greg Scott was named by Hamilton College as its outstanding male senior athlete at a late-May awards banquet.
Scott, a third-team NCAA Division III Golf Coaches Association of America All-American in 2011, received the 2014 Jack B. Riffle Award at Hamilton’s senior varsity athlete awards dinner on May 20.
Scott is only the second Riffle winner from the men’s golf team; the other was honored 20 years ago. In 2011, he was also voted to the coaches’ association Division III All-Freshman Team. He is a four-time Northeast all-region selection and a three-time NESCAC all-conference honoree, including the first team in the fall of 2011.
Scott shares the program record for best 18-hole score with a 67 and is believed to hold the program record for best 36-hole tournament score at 139. His career average for an 18-hole round was 75.4 strokes.
Scott has been on the NESCAC fall all-sportsmanship team three times. He helped Hamilton finish third at the NESCAC championship qualifier in 2012 and fourth at the 2011 qualifier, leading the Continentals to appearances in the four-team NESCAC championship both times.
Scott, son of Joanne Scott and John Rubright of New Haven, received a bachelor of arts degree from Hamilton on Sunday, May 25.
