T-Birds nip Tigers 6-5 in softball
MIDDLEBURY — Visiting Missisquoi edged the Middlebury Union High School softball team on Thursday, 6-5, as the T-Birds improved to 12-2 and retained their hold on fourth place in Division I.
The Tigers dropped to 4-9, with six of those setbacks coming by either one or two runs. They were set to play at Burlington on Saturday after the early holiday deadline for this newspaper, and are scheduled to play at Colchester on Tuesday before concluding their season by hosting South Burlington on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
On this past Thursday, the T-Birds scored the decisive run in the sixth inning and held on for the win. Hannah Lawrence and Ahleiyah Mason-Rivera had two hits apiece to pace the Tiger attack, while Payton Buxton was the losing pitcher.
