VERGENNES — Vergennes police cited a city man for drunken driving, third offense; driving with a criminally suspended license; and simple assault following an incident at the City Limits bar early on Sunday morning. Receiving the three citations was Jason Fuller, 32.
Police said they responded to a report of a fight at the bar, where a victim alleged that Fuller had punched him in the stomach. Police said they found Fuller at a relative’s home in Vergennes and determined that he had driven there and was over the legal blood alcohol limit for driving and had had his license criminally suspended. They then issued the three citations for Fuller to appear in court.
In other incidents between May 5 and 11, Vergennes police:
•  On May 5 were told by a School Street resident that gravel had been mistakenly delivered to a neighbor, who had used the gravel. Police said it was a civil issue.
•  On May 5 tried to help a woman find a cell phone that she said either was lost or stolen while she was at or near Shaw’s Supermarket.
•  On May 5 helped a South Maple Street landlord by standing by while a tenant moved out.
•  On May 5 accepted a sword that a resident found near Armory Lane during Green Up Day.
•  On May 5 spoke with a resident about unauthorized use of her credit card by an acquaintance and determined it was a civil case.
•  On May 6 warned a truck driver not to pass a school bus, an action they took following a Green Street incident.
•  On May 6 issued a number of tickets, including six for speeding, during a lengthy patrol on Monkton Road.
•  On May 7 were told someone tried to take a registration sticker off a car parked on West Main Street.
•  On May 7 stood by a downed power line on South Water Street until Green Mountain Power could respond.
•  On May 7 responded to a report of youths skateboarding on MacDonough Drive and spoke to Northlands Job Corps officials about the incident.
•  On May 7 ticketed the operator of a car for defective equipment and for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at a Main Street traffic stop.
•  On May 8 dealt with a case in which one Vergennes Union Elementary School student allegedly stole money from another student.
•  On May 8 and 9 twice aided Vermont State Police at the city station by having the department’s Drug Recognition Expert determine motorists who had driven under the influence of marijuana.
•  On May 9 dealt with an incident of a dog biting a child at a Main Street apartment building. Police said the child required one stitch and that they followed up to make sure the dog’s shots were up to date.
•  On May 9 participated with local fire and rescue personnel and the state medical examiner’s office at an educational mock crash at Vergennes Union High School.
•  On May 9 dealt with a minor two-car accident on West Main Street.
•  On May 9 issued court diversion paperwork to a Northlands student for consumption of alcohol by a minor.
•  On May 10 dealt with a noise complaint at a Main Street apartment building.
•  On May 10 responded to Basin Harbor Road in Ferrisburgh to help VSP with a drunk-driving arrest. VSP reported a pursuit, but had pulled the vehicle over when city police arrived.
•  On May 10 accepted a credit card that a resident found on Main Street. Police contacted the owner and destroyed it at his request because it had already been cancelled.
