Softball: Tigers, Eagles and Commodores all win
ADDISON COUNTY — In area high school softball action late last week, Mount Abraham, Vergennes and Middlebury all won games before rain washed out Saturday’s contests.

EAGLES
On Thursday, the Eagles knocked off Division I power Missisquoi, 5-2. The Eagles scored three runs in the decisive sixth inning. Melanie Rotax’s two hits included a homer for the second straight game, and Dani Forand also poked a pair of hits. Rachael McCormick tossed a complete-game two-hitter, whiffing eight. The T-Birds dropped to 7-2.
The Eagles’ Saturday game at Mt. Mansfield was postponed until Monday.
The 8-1 Eagles will visit VUHS on Tuesday in a game with not only local bragging rights at stake, but also D-II seeding implications.
COMMODORES
On Thursday, the Commodores topped visiting Milton, 13-3, as Dani Brown earned the complete-game pitching win, striking out 13, and belted a grand slam. Kayla Charron andTamara Aunchman chipped in two hits apiece for VUHS.
The 5-1 Commodores’ Saturday game at Spaulding was postponed.
TIGERS
OnThursday, the Tigers broke through and won a close game after a series of tough losses. Makayla Foster singled home Keri Richmond with the winning run in the fifth inning, and Krisandra Provencher’s three hits also sparked MUHS. Payton Buxton came on in relief to earn the pitching win.
The 2-5 Tigers’ Saturday game at Essex was postponed until Monday.
