Both local girls’ tennis teams fall

ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school tennis action, both the Middlebury and Otter Valley girls’ teams dropped matches last week.
The Tiger boys were scheduled to play twice, but both matches were postponed. Their Wednesday home match vs. Harwood was moved to May 13, and their Saturday match at Montpelier was moved to this Friday.
On Wednesday, the Tigers fell to Harwood, 5-2, in a match that was moved to an indoor facility due to rain. Individual matches were shortened to one sets of eight games due to time constraints.
In singles play:
•  At No. 1, Marvie Avery, M, defeated Ally Behn, H, 8-3.
•  At No. 2, Madeline Ganey, M, lost to Chase Fortier, H, 6-8.
•  At No. 3, Sonia Howlett, M, defeated Shelby Parette, H, 8-2.
•  At No. 4, Dorothy Punderson, M, lost to Sarah Brodeur, H, 2-8.
•  At No. 5, Charlotte Keathley, M, lost to Mallory Wright, H, 0-8.
In doubles:
•  At No. 1, Jesse Wulfman and Julia Cluss, M, lost to Mia Burfoot and Maddie McGeorge, H, 5-8.
•  At No. 2, Sara Boe and Lindsay Wells, M, lost to Lillie Miler and Jackie Gresin, H, 7-8 (10-4 tie breaker).
The Tiger girls’ Friday match vs. Montpelier was postponed until May 13.
On Thursday in Brandon, visiting Mount Anthony defeated the shorthanded OV girls, 5-2. OV forfeited No. 5 singles and both doubles matches and split the four singles matches that were contested.
Those results were:
•  At No. 1, Jessie Kuzmicki, MAU, defeated Sarah Young, OV, 7-5, 6-2.
•  At No. 2, Danarose Weaver, OV, defeated Keara Sternberg, MAU, 5-7, 6-3, 10-6 tiebreaker.
•  At No. 3, Caitlyn Curtis, OV, defeated Margaret Curtin, MAU, 6-2, 6-0.
•  At No. 4, Grace Page, MAU, defeated Jonna Keith, OV, 6-2, 6-0.
