Otter Valley boys beat Ghosts for first lacrosse win
RANDOLPH — The Otter Valley Union High School boys’ lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season while splitting two games late last week. OV is 1-5.
On Thursday, the Otters defeated host Randolph, 8-5, as Vytas Nielson returned to the lineup and led the attack with three goals. Colton Leno added a pair of scores, and Derek Bassette, Keenan Pratt and Robertas Nielson tossed in a goal apiece. Goalie Carson Leary backstopped the win with nine saves.
On Saturday, the Otters lost at St. Johnsbury, 12-1, after trailing, 5-0, in the first quarter. Leary, a first-year player, stopped 21 shots in what Coach Randy Stewart called an outstanding effort. Collin Eugair scored the goal for OV, an unassisted strike.
