In baseball: Mount Abe wins, OV losses, MUHS is postponed

ADDISON COUNTY — In area high school baseball action late last week, Mount Abraham won its opener, while Otter Valley took its first loss.
Middlebury’s Thursday game at St. Johnsbury was postponed to this Tuesday. That game will still serve as the Tigers’ opener. They are scheduled to play at Rice on Thursday and to host North Country on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
EAGLES
Mount Abe opened on Saturday by trimming host Colchester, 5-1, behind the five-hit, complete-game pitching of senior Sawyer Kamman. The Lakers dropped to 0-3.
Josh Cyr and Kamman sparked the offense with a pair of hits apiece. Cyr singled in two runs in the top of the first inning to give the Eagles all the runs they would need. They added three more in the fifth.
Mount Abe is scheduled to host Burlington on Tuesday in its home opener.
OTTERS
On Thursday, host Mill River knocked off the Otters, 11-6, to improve to 2-0. OV dropped to 2-1 after a pair of one-sided victories.
OV drew eight walks from MRU pitchers, but managed only four hits, two by John Winslow.C.J. McCullough started for the Otters and took the loss.
The Otters are scheduled to host Fair Haven on Thursday.
