MUHS girls’ tennis edged by St. Albans

ST. ALBANS — In a competition that saw most individual matches tightly contested, host BFA-St. Albans edged the Middlebury Union High School girls’ tennis team, 4-3, on Saturday.
The Tigers saw their record even at 1-1 with the setback.
The individual results were:
• No. 1 singles: Marvie Avery, M, defeated Ciara Bannister, B, 7-5, 6-2.
• No. 2 singles: Summer Averill, B, defeated Madeline Ganey, M, 6-4, 2-6, 12-10.
• No. 3 singles: Dianne Benedicto, B, defeated Sonia Hewlett, M, 6-3, 5-7, 10-7.
• No. 4 singles: Sara Boe, M, defeated Mikayla Messier, B, 6-3,7-5.
• No. 5 singles: Jana Somero, B, defeated Hannah Stoll, M, 6-1, 6-1.
• No. 1 doubles: Jesse Wulfman/Julia Class, M, defeated Gina Neidig/Jillian Berno, B, 3-6, 6-1, 10-6.
• No. 2 doubles: Laurel Hebert/Michele McKay, B, defeated Emma Castle/Charlotte Keathley, M, 6-0, 6-1.
