Mount Abe board picks new principal

BRISTOL — The Mount Abraham Union High School board has picked a new principal for the school.
Gaynell J. Lyman will take over for Andy Kepes on July 1. Lyman, who earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Vermont, has spent her career to date at a large school district in Henrico, Va.
ANeSU Superintendent David Adams said Lyman was the unanimous choice of both the board and the 16-member search advisory committee. They made the selection on April 1. She is currently the associate principal of Douglas S. Freeman High School, and previously taught high school physics at the college prep, honors and advanced placement levels.
Principal Andy Kepes, who has been principal since 2009, announced his resignation earlier this year.
