ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police on Feb. 13 cited Jerry Dunbar, 25, of Bridport, for driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, after VSP allegedly saw him spinning out and doing “donuts” in the Vermont Fish and Wildlife fishing access just off of Route 125 in Addison. Police noted that Dunbar’s vehicle had no registration or insurance documents and the license plates were not assigned to it. State police arrested Dunbar and towed his vehicle.
In other action last week, Vermont State Police:
•  Investigated the theft of a red, 10-foot-long Future Beach Fusion Kayak from a seasonal camp on Owls Head Harbor Road in Addison on Feb. 11. The kayak is valued at approximately $300. Vermont State Police continue to encourage citizens to secure their personal belongings.
•  Responded to a reported burglary at a private shop on Cross Road in Ferrisburgh. The culprit(s) entered an unsecured storage container and stole three radiators, according to police. The radiators are valued at approximately $300. Police gave the victim advice on how to better protect his property.
•  Cited Samuel Rathbun, 50, of Lincoln, for driving under the influence and careless and negligent driving, following their investigation of a report of a vehicle that had veered off the side of West River Road in Lincoln on Feb. 13. Rathbun is scheduled to appear in Addison County District Court to answer the charges on March 3.
•  Cited Mark Tougas, 48, of Middlebury, for leaving the scene of an accident, following their investigation of a two-vehicle collision on Route 7 north in Leicester on Feb. 11. Police said neither Tougas nor the occupant of the second car — Erica Mitchell, 23, of Leicester — were injured in the collision, reported at around 9:30 p.m. in clear weather conditions. Both vehicles were reported totaled.
•  Investigated a one-vehicle rollover, with no injuries, on Route 22A in Shoreham on Feb. 14.
•  Responded to a tractor-trailer rollover on Route 17, approximately a half mile east of the West Addison General Store on Feb. 15. Police said the driver of the truck, Sharica Dawn Townshend, 26, of Vienna, Ga., said she had veered to avoid an oncoming vehicle and her tires became stuck in the snow at the side of the road. The vehicle then swerved off the eastbound side of the road and rolled over on its passenger side, according to police. Police said Townsend and her passenger were taken to Porter Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
