OV boys hoopsters move up in Div. II

ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school boys’ basketball action late last week, Otter Valley won to keep moving up the Division II standings, but Middlebury and Mount Abraham lost on the road.
The Commodores and Tigers’ Thursday games were moved to Monday, when MUHS will visit Missisquoi, and VUHS will host St. Albans.
Teams are entering their final week of play this week. The Vermont Principals’ Association will announce pairings next Monday.
OTTERS
On Saturday, OV topped host Proctor, 41-34, for its third win in a row and seventh in eight outings. The Otters also finally crested .500 at 9-8 and, unofficially, moved into sixth place in D-II. Proctor fell to 7-10. Kai Norwood led OV with 14 points, and John Winslow added 11.
OV plays at another D-IV school on Monday, West Rutland, and visits Bellows Falls on Tuesday before concluding by hosting Woodstock on Friday.
TIGERS
On Saturday, host South Burlington pulled away in the second half to defeat MUHS, 50-41. The Rebels evened their record at 9-9, while the Tigers fell to 8-9. Bobby Ritter scored seven points for the Tigers, who visit Mount Abe on Wednesday and host VUHS on Friday.
EAGLES
On Thursday, host Milton avenged an earlier loss to Mount Abe, 75-49. The Eagles dropped to 4-14 despite 21 points from Sawyer Kamman. The Eagles entered the final week of play at No. 14 in the D-II standings, a point ahead of No. 15 Springfield. They play at St. Albans on Friday after Wednesday’s game vs. MUHS.
