New Haven’s Stan Bigelow bowls a perfect 300
SHELBURNE — New Haven resident Stan Bigelow bowled a perfect game on Monday night, rolling a 300 at Champlain Lanes in Shelburne.
Bigelow, bowling with his Champlain Valley Plumbing and Heating teammates Craig Smith, Duane and Kirk Fuller, and Richard Malmstrom, achieved the feat in the middle of his three-game set, for which he totaled 694.
He fired a 215 in the first game, then the perfect 300 before finishing with a 179 — with the third game four strokes better than his 175 average.
Bigelow, a 25-year bowling veteran, said he was simply “in the zone” — he noted that he concluded his first game with five consecutive strikes, meaning including his perfect second game he rolled 17 consecutive strikes. His previous best for a single game was a 279.
