Wind ensemble offers free concert at Bixby

VERGENNES — The Windsong Woodwind Quintet will give a free concert at Bixby Memorial Library in Vergennes on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m.
Included in the program is “The Mother Goose Suite” by Maurice Ravel and David Maslanka’s “Quintet for Winds No. 2” as well as works by Gabriel, Colomer and Debussy. The performers come from diverse musical backgrounds, drawn together by the shared excitement and joy of live performance. They gather in late fall each year to choose a challenging program and prepare their winter concert series.
Members of the classically trained woodwind quintet include Lois Price, flute; Dan Frostman, oboe; Andrew Miskavage, clarinet; Julie Wolfe, bassoon; and Susan O’Daniel, French horn. Several are teachers with private students, college and public school classroom duties. O’Daniel is the instrumental music director at Vergennes Union High School and conducts the Vergennes City Band concerts in the park each summer.
