MUHS Nordic teams ski well in relays

ST. ALBANS — Three teams of Middlebury Union High School girls’ and boys’ Nordic skiers posted top-four finishes on Friday at a six-team relay meet hosted by BFA-St. Albans at Dickinson’s Field.
The Tiger boys’ trio of Max Livingstone-Peters, Harlow Punderson and Haven Tate finished what Coach Matt Truehart called an “old-school” 9-kilometer course with lots of twists and turns in 31:00 in second place, behind only the winning Essex team of Caleb Guziak, Andrey Chymkh and Steven Maloney in 30:47. Each team’s skiers took turns completing two 1.5-kilometer legs.
The Tiger girls’ team of Sophie Ryan, Kate DaPolito and Julia Rosenberg finished third in 36:41 behind two Burlington squads. The winners were Andrea Noonan, Sabrina Farmer and Callie Flynn in 35:21.
Right behind them in fourth were another Tiger threesome, Emily Kiernan, Amelia Ingersoll and Morgan Pratt in 37:00.
The other two Tiger boys’ teams competing were Matias Pyle, Parker Castle and Ross Crowne, who were eighth in 38:24, and Henry Ganey, Bob Avery and David Dregallo, who were 10th in 38:52.
The other Tiger girls’ group racing was Claire Armstrong, Signi Livingstone-Peters and Michelle Peterson; they took 14th in 44:18.
