Tiger boys’ hockey extends streak to five

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ hockey team won twice last week to improve its record to 7-4 and stretch its winning streak to five games.
On Wednesday, Justin Stone scored three times as the Tigers outpaced host Harwood, 6-2, after taking a 6-0 lead. Keenan Bartlett (two assists), Devin Dwire (assist) and Kevin Galenkamp (assist) chipped in a goal apiece for MUHS. Nick Audet had two assists, Jordan Stearns helped set up one goal, and goalie Sawyer Ryan stopped 16 shots.
On Saturday, the Tigers trimmed visiting Burlington, 5-0, outshooting the Seahorses, 33-12. Rio McCarty and Audet scored twice each, Tyler Crowningshield picked up a goal and an assist, Bartlett set up four scores, and Colton Leno also assisted a score. Goalie Doug DeLorenzo stopped 12 shots to earn the shutout.
The Tigers are sixth in Division II and have a chance to move up in the standings this week when they play at fourth-place Milton on Wednesday and host first-place Stowe on Friday at 7 p.m.
