Middlebury Police Log: Man allegely pulls knife on landlord

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Kevin Zey, 56, of Middlebury for first-degree aggravated domestic assault, following an incident at a Case Street residence on Jan. 19.
Police said they went to the residence upon being told of an alleged landlord-tenant dispute and that Zey had allegedly brandished a knife.
Police said they arrested Zey and took him to the Marble Valley Correctional Center, where he was lodged without bail.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
•  Warned a Middlebury Union High School student to stop sending unwanted text messages to an Otter Valley Union High School student on Jan. 13.
•  Investigated a report of people drinking alcohol in a parking lot off Court Street on Jan. 13.
•  Referred, to the Vermont Department of Children and Families (DCF), an allegation of a person committing lewd and lascivious conduct against a child in the Route 7 South area on Jan. 13.
•  Assisted at the scene of a car accident on Court Street Extension on Jan. 13 in which one person sustained minor injuries.
•  Cited Michele Tellier, 42, of Middlebury for domestic assault, following an alleged incident at a Seymour Street residence on Jan. 13.
•  Assisted Vermont State Police in searching for a missing juvenile believed to be located near the Middlebury/Bristol town line on Jan. 14.
•  Were informed of the theft of an inspection sticker from a vehicle parked off Route 7 South on Jan. 14.
•  Cited a 17-year-old MUHS student for simple assault, after she was allegedly involved in a fight with another student at the school on Jan. 14.
•  Assisted a John Graham Court resident who was receiving harassing phone calls from a New Haven woman on Jan. 14.
•  Arrested Ingrid Ecklein, 41, of New Haven for violating court-ordered conditions of her release by consuming alcohol on Main Street on Jan. 14. Police said they also cited her for possession of illegal prescription drugs.
•  Referred, to DCF, a local complaint on Jan. 14 of two youths allegedly using heroin around a child.
•  Investigated a report of a person sleeping in a recycling bin behind a Main Street business on Jan. 15. Police said the man was warned not to sleep there.
•  Cited Ronald Gorton Jr., 43, of New Haven for driving with a criminally suspended license on College Street on Jan. 15.
•  Assisted a local woman in getting her ex-husband to stop texting her on Jan. 15.
•  Investigated a report of “suspicious people” behind the MUHS building on Jan. 15.
•  Conducted a death investigation at a Munger Street residence on Jan. 16. Police said the subject, Leila Joseph, 66, of Lincoln, was pronounced dead of apparent natural causes.
•  Investigated a report of a truant Middlebury Union Middle School student on Jan. 16.
•  Responded to a two-vehicle crash, without injuries, at the intersection of Route 7 North and Happy Valley Road on Jan. 16.
•  Asked the Counseling Service of Addison County to assist in the case of an out-of-control juvenile at a Seminary Street residence on Jan. 16.
•  Found a man trying to tip over flower planters in front of a College Street business on Jan. 17. The man told police he was upset over a domestic issue and was “acting out.” Police said that there was no property damage, they let the man go and warned him to refrain from such behavior.
•  Stopped, on North Pleasant Street, a man who had been drinking alcohol in a parking lot off North Pleasant Street on Jan. 17. Police said the man was not intoxicated, but they grounded his vehicle.
•  Assisted Middlebury Rescue officials with a person who had overdosed on heroin in the Woodbridge Lane area on Jan. 17.
•  Served trespass orders, at the request of Middlebury College Public Safety, on three people who were on campus on Jan. 17.
•  Investigated an alleged assault in the Main Street area on Jan. 18.
•  Assisted a Cross Street resident who was having mental health issues on Jan. 18.
•  Investigated a three-car accident, without injuries, in the College Street area on Jan. 18.
•  Ticketed an underage female who had allegedly tried to buy alcohol using a fake identification card at a Court Street business on Jan. 18.
•  Investigated a possible theft at a Court Street store on Jan. 18.
•  Cited Cheryl Fox-Odell, 41, of Middlebury for driving under the influence, following an investigation on Mary Hogan Drive on Jan. 19.
•  Conducted a welfare check on a Woodland Park resident who was reportedly considering harming herself on Jan. 19. Police said they took the woman to Porter Hospital for treatment of a drug overdose.
•  On Jan. 19 checked the status of a vacant Jayne Court apartment suspected to have been used without authorization. Police said the apartment checked out OK and was relocked.
•  Assisted state police in processing a drunk driving suspect on Route 116 on Jan. 20.
