LINCOLN — The Lincoln School Board Thursday accepted the resignation of its chair at a special meeting convened for that purpose. Henry Wilmer, who has served on the board for five years, said he is stepping down for health reasons.
Board vice chair Jen Oldham praised Wilmer’s tenure on the board.
“He has always been a voice of attention to detail and wanting to understand everything,” Oldham said. “He had a good relationship with the town and superintendent, and in my mind embodied a really engaged and well-rounded board member.”
By law, the school board has 30 days to fill a vacancy. Oldham said the board has begun the search for a replacement. Interested candidates should submit a letter to Addison Northeast Supervisory Union Superintendent David Adams via email at [email protected] or by U.S. Mail at 72 Munsill Ave., Bristol, VT 05443.
Letters are due Jan. 13, and the board will interview candidates and select a replacement at their meeting Jan. 15. The appointment will effectively be for one meeting, as an election will be held for that seat on Town Meeting Day in March. Oldham says she hopes the board will appoint a candidate who is interested in being elected to serve out Wilmer’s term, which runs through 2015.
Oldham automatically succeeded Wilmer as the new chair, until the next elections in March.
