In girls’ hoop: Eagles, VUHS win; Tigers struggle

ADDISON COUNTY — In local girls’ basketball action, all on this past Friday, Mount Abraham and Vergennes were victorious, but Middlebury failed to record its first win. Otter Valley’s game at Windsor was postponed.
EAGLES
Mount Abe raced to a 31-14 halftime lead vs. visiting Mill River on the way to a 52-31 win over the Minutemen. The result left both teams at 4-2. Ashlie Fay (14 points) and Meg Livingstone andIsabel Brennan (12 apiece) led the Eagles in the scorebook.
COMMODORES
In Vergennes, the Commodores outscored Winooski by 18-14 in the fourth quarter to emerge with a 42-39 win in a tight game. Tamara Aunchman came off the bench for 12 points and eight rebounds for VUHS, K.C. Ambrose scored 10, Taylor Paquette pulled down nine boards, and Brianna Gebo had five rebounds, four assists and four steals off the bench as VUHS improved to 2-3.
TIGERS
Visiting South Burlington (2-4) held MUHS to a season low in points as the Rebels defeated the Tigers, 49-12. Payton Buxton scored six for the 0-7 Tigers.
