Addison Independent top 10 stories of 2013
Looking back on 2013, the staff of the Addison Independent found that it was particularly busy covering news on the proposed natural gas pipeline through the county and on the proposed new town office and town gym. Those two stories grabbed plenty of headlines, but there were logs of other important stories, too. Read our roundup of the top 10 stories of the year just passed, as well as some of the others that caught our eye.
UPDATE: Our apologies to the Mount Abraham Union High School field hockey players, coaches and fans; after publication of the Top 10 it was brought to our attention that in our story about the many high school state champhionship sports teams in the county in 2013 (story No. 10) we did not mention the Eagles’ victory over previously undefeated Rice in the Division II championship game. Given the tragic loss of team member Olivia Scott during the season and the Eagles’ fortitude in continuing undefeated after that makes our omission of Mount Abe field hockey from our list of champions in the Top 10 stories of the year all the more regrettable.
