Vergennes Police Log: Holidays bring fewer incidents to city
VERGENNES — Vergennes police found their caseload reduced during a slow holiday week. Between Dec. 23 and 29, city police:
• On Dec. 26 helped the Addison County Sheriff’s department process a drunk-driving case.
• On Dec. 26 aided Vermont State Police at a Ferrisburgh home with a suicidal man; VSP took him to Porter Hospital for counseling.
• On Dec. 26 took a dog back to a South Maple Street home; a citizen had found the canine wandering loose.
• On Dec. 27 unsuccessfully pursued a car clocked at 58 mph on Main Street. Police radioed ahead for other departments to be on the lookout for the car north on Route 7.
• On Dec. 27 verified the whereabouts of an individual involved in an untimely death case in Essex, an action taken on behalf of police in that town.
• On Dec. 28 were called to the Small City Market at about 5:30 a.m. when a drunken man was trying to get into a customer’s car and into the store’s beer cooler; police took him to the Act 1 facility in Burlington to sober up.
• On Dec. 28 checked a report of people in a vacant Main Street home and discovered family members doing work.
• On Dec. 28 dealt with a minor two-car accident on Scovel Lane.
• On Dec. 28 asked the owner of a car blocking access to a moving truck on Green Street to move the vehicle.
• On Dec. 28 tried unsuccessfully to find a car that drove off from Champlain Farms without paying for gas.
