Opinion: Town office has served its purpose
Most days I drive down South Street and stop at its intersection with South Main Street. Lately I have been looking for an architectural treasure on an invaluable piece of town land, as all other letter writers seem to see. What I see is a tired old high school, its upper floor missing after a fire that occurred in my childhood, on an odd shaped piece of land. This building has served Middlebury as town offices for over 60 years, longer than it was its high school. It is time to move forward.
Middlebury has a chance, in partnership with the college, to have new and upgraded facilities at a price that is palatable to most taxpayers. I shall vote in favor of this project and would like to hear from others who feel as I do.
P.S. — For the conflict of interest crowd, I am a part-time college employee.
