Girls’ hoop: Eagles win tourney, other teams defeated

ADDISON COUNTY — In recent local high school girls’ basketball action, Mount Abraham split a pair of games, while Otter Valley, Vergennes and Middlebury all came up short.
EAGLES
On this past Friday, the Eagles coasted past Burr and Burton, 51-28, to wrap up the title in Fair Haven’s Mary Canfield Memorial Tournament. Guards Sam Driscoll (12 points) and Meg Livingston (11) sparked the Mount Abe attack, and Ashlie Fay was named to the all-tournament team.
On Monday, host Champlain Valley (6-0) dealt the Eagles a 57-34 setback. Both of the 3-2 Eagles’ losses have come at the hands of the defending Division I champion Redhawks. Isabel Brennan’s 11 points led Mount Abe.
OTTERS
On this past Friday, visiting Arlington edged OV, 34-30, in a seesaw contest. The Otters dropped to 0-3 despite 11 points from Taylor Aines. OV will look to break through at Windsor on Friday.
COMMODORES
On Monday, visiting Colchester bested VUHS, 44-24. Taylor Paquette led the 1-3 Commodores with 13 points, while K.C. Ambrose pulled down eight rebounds and Brianna Gebo chipped in with four points and four steals.
TIGERS
On this past Friday, host Mill River improved to 3-1 with a 46-17 win over the Tigers. Hannah Hobbs led MUHS with six points.
On Monday, visiting Fair Haven moved to 4-1 with a 51-22 victory at MUHS. Jessica Stannard topped the Slaters with 15 points, while Julia Cluss led the 0-6 Tigers with seven.
