Boys’ hockey: MUHS boys edged twice

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ hockey team dropped both games of its own holiday tournament, both of them closely contested. The Tigers’ record dropped to 2-4.
On this past Friday, visiting Northfield topped the Tigers, 4-2. Justin Stone and Rio McCarty scored for the Tigers, and goalie Sawyer Ryan made 19 saves. Northfield goalie Riley Corey stopped 15 shots.
In the tournament’s consolation game, New York school Northeastern Clinton edged MUHS, 3-2 in overtime. Keenan Bartlett scored and assisted Nick Audet’s strike, while Ryan stopped 14 shots.
Lake Placid defeated Northfield, 5-3, in the tournament title game.
The Tigers will host Brattleboro on Saturday at 7 p.m.
