Vergennes Police Log: City woman cited for credit card fraud

VERGENNES — Vergennes police on Sunday cited a Vergennes woman for an earlier offense of credit card fraud.
Police allege that Jessica Kimball, 39, a Main Street resident, in late November stole a credit card from a Ferrisburgh resident and fraudulently charged about $1,700 of goods and services. Sunday’s citation concluded an investigation that began not long after the alleged offense.
In other action between Dec. 16 and 22, Vergennes police:
•  On Dec. 16 received a complaint about barking dogs at a South Water Street home. Police said it is an ongoing issue and they have ticketed the owners in the past, but were unable to immediately reach the owner last week. Another complaint was received on Sunday that police will follow up on.
•  On Dec. 16 dealt with a truancy issue at Vergennes Union High School.
•  On Dec. 16 heard from a woman an allegation of threats made by a man involved with her in a longstanding legal dispute.
•  On Dec. 16 backed up Bristol police at a domestic disturbance.
•  On Dec. 17 and 21 issued tickets to owners of cars parked in violation of the city’s winter overnight on-street parking ban.
•  On Dec. 17 received a report of an erratic driver leaving the city south on Route 22A and ended up being one of the first on the scene of a fatal accident handled by Vermont State Police involving the driver who was reported to them. Gene Oliver, 46, of Bridport died at the scene as the result of injuries sustained in the crash, which occurred at around 6:45 p.m. VSP reported that Jeffrey Gosliga, 37, of Addison was in the second vehicle in the crash and he was severely injured, though his injuries were not life-threatening.
•  On Dec. 18 confiscated marijuana from a Monkton Road youth and issued him a citation after receiving a tip from a family member.
•  On Dec. 18 were told that a Fedex delivery had been stolen from a Green Street home, but learned it had been dropped off at the wrong address.
•  On Dec. 18 cited a 14-year-old girl into juvenile court for making up a story that a 15-year-old boy had assaulted her.
•  On Dec. 19 were told that a mother picking up a child at Vergennes Union Elementary School was impaired by marijuana; police could not find her, but reported the incident to the Department of Children and Families.
•  On Dec. 20 cited Michael R. Brown, 44, of Panton for retail theft from his employer, Kinney Drug; police allege he stole on three separate occasions goods with a total value of about $92.
•  On Dec. 20 roused a drunken man who was asleep under a Green Street stairway at about midnight and took him to Porter Hospital because his blood-alcohol content read at 0.0352; as a point of comparison the legal limit for driving is 0.08. Vergennes police said once he was medically cleared the man was turned over to Bristol police because of an alleged violation of a relief-from-abuse order.
•  On Dec. 21 issued a no-trespass order to a Walker Avenue resident on behalf of Middlebury police.
•  On Dec. 21 asked a vehicle owner to move it to allow highway workers to apply salt on North Maple Street.
•  On Dec. 22 helped the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad lift a patient at a High Street home.
