MUHS grapplers pick up two wins
BARRE — The Middlebury Union High School wrestling team opened its dual-meet season with a pair of NVAC wins at Spaulding on Thursday, one over the host Tide and one over county rival Mount Abraham.
The Tigers topped the Tide, 36-30, and defeated the Eagles, 42-18.

Against the Eagles, the Tigers earned a 3-1 edge in contested weight classes and a 4-2 edge in forfeits.
• At 126, Eagle Josh Roy defeated Kyle Desabrais, 13-9.
• At 132 Tiger James Whitley pinned Josh Russin.
• At 138 Tiger Alex Sheldrick won by forfeit.
• At 160 Tiger Cortland Fischer won by forfeit.
• At 170 Tiger Nick Beauchamp won by forfeit.
• At 195 Tiger Jake Trautwein pinned Shayne Bowen.
• At 220 Tiger Chris Gobbi won by forfeit.
• At 285 Tiger Benn Lussier pinned Gary Brown.
TIGERS, 36-30.
Against Spaulding, the Tigers won two of five contested classes, losing one due to injury, but prevailed due to forfeited weight classes.
• At 126 Desabrais was pinned by Trevor Bell.
• At 132 Whitley pinned Patrick Lucey.
• At 138 Sheldrick won by forfeit.
• At 152 James Mason lost by injury forfeit to Kyle Cookie.
• At 160 Fischer won by forfeit.
• At 170 Beauchamp won by forfeit.
• At 195 Trautwein won by pin.
• At 220 Chris Gobbi won by forfeit.
• At 285 Benn Lussier lost by pin to Spencer Fewers.
