VUHS girls’ hoop drops matchup against Harwood

SOUTH DUXBURY — Host Harwood pulled away in the second half to earn a 53-45 victory over the Vergennes Union High School girls’ basketball team on Saturday in the opener for both squads.
The Highlanders led by just one at the break, 26-25, but claimed the win with three players in double figures, including Jennifer James (17 points).
The Commodores’ K.C. Ambrose matched that game-high total with 17 points of her own, and Paige Coyle added nine for VUHS.
The Commodores play two more road games this week, at Montpelier on Tuesday and at Mill River on Friday.
