Football: Tigers remain undefeated, smother Seahorses 41-6

BURLINGTON — The Middlebury Union High School football team on Friday night wrapped up its undefeated regular season by beating host Burlington, 41-6.
The 8-0 Tigers also nailed down the No. 1 seed in Division 1. Unofficially as of Sunday morning, St. Johnsbury (3-5) apparently edged Mount Mansfield for the No. 8 seed, and the Highlanders will visit the Tigers on Friday night at 7 p.m.
On this past Friday the Tigers took a 14-0 first-quarter lead on a pair of Austin Robinson touchdown passes, a 26-yarder to Sam Smith and a 23-yarder to Nathan Peck. Two Josh Stearns field goals in the second period made it 20-0 at the half.
In the third period the Tigers put the game away with three touchdowns, an 11-yard Peck run, a 45-yard Cullen Hathaway burst, and a five-yard pass from Robinson to Ian Gill that made it 41-0.
In the fourth quarter, Seahorse QB Peter Labracio hit Malcolm Huesman from 17 yards out for the BHS score. BHS finished at 2-5.
Robinson completed six of 11 passes for a net of 105 yards and ran for 45 yards more. Jakob Trautwein led the Tigers with 10 rushes for 72 yards. In all, the Tigers gained more than 400 yards.
