SOUTH DUXBURY — Cross-country runners from Mount Abraham and Vergennes union high schools participated in Saturday’s eight-team Harwood Invitational Meet, and four Eagles posted top-20 results.
On the boys’ side, Eagles Chris Carter and Connor Norland were 12th and 20th, respectively, as the Eagles were fifth out of eight scoring teams.
On the girls’ side, Genevieve Chiola and Delaynah Leavitt finished 16th and 19th, respectively, as the Eagles took fifth out of six scoring teams.
The Harwood teams swept both races and Highlander runners took first place in both. The boys’ team scores were 1. Harwood, 15; 2. U-32, 75; 3. Milton, 109; 4. Lyndon, 126; 5.  Mt. Abe, 127; 6. Missisquoi, 144; 7. VUHS, 156; 8. Lamoille, 197. Sam Nishi finished first in 17:02.
The girls’ team scores were: 1. Harwood, 24; 2. U-32, 85; 3. Randolph, 87; 4 Milton, 92; 5. Mt. Abe, 106; 6. Missisquoi, 115. VUHS fielded only two female runners and did not score as a team. Harwood’s Grace Butler took first in 21:04.
