Two local women involved in Rt. 7 car accident

NEW HAVEN — Vermont State Police are investigating a two-car accident Thursday on U.S. Route 7 in New Haven.
Police say the crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Town Hill Road and Route 7. Loretta Lawrence of Ferrisburgh was driving northbound on Rt. 7 and struck the Toyota Camry driven by RoseMary Payne of Bridport, as Payne turned off of Town Hill Road.
Lawrence’s Dodge Journey suffered extensive damage to the front end, while Payne’s Camry sustained damage to the driver’s side. The force of the accident pushed Payne’s vehicle off the road where it came to a rest in a ditch on the west side of the road.
Lawrence, 62, and Payne, 66, were transported to Porter Medical Center in Middlebury where they were treated and released, a hospital official said.
