Boys’ soccer: Eagles remain perfect; Commodores win; Tigers fall

ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school boys’ soccer action on Tuesday, Mount Abraham won on the road to reach the midpoint of the regular season with an unbeaten record, Vergennes won at home in double overtime to reach .500, and Middlebury lost at home. Otter Valley (3-3) was idle earlier this week.
EAGLES
The Eagles scored three times in each half on the way to a 6-1 win at Missisquoi that pushed their record to 7-0; they are in first place in Division II. Ethan White’s three goals led Mount Abe, and Calvin Joos,Aiden White-Pifer andRider MacCrellish also found the net.
COMMODORES
Liam Hayes converted a feed fromDana Ambrose with 40 seconds left in the second overtime to give VUHS a 2-1 win over visiting Milton. Ambrose had given the Commodores a lead on a penalty kick in the 51st minute, but Milton’s Nick Goodrich sank a direct kick 14 minutes later to knot the score. Milton goalie Nate Dooley made three saves, while Dylan Raymond (six) and Chris Leach (two) combined for eight saves for the 3-3 Commodores.
TIGERS
Host Rice scored six times in the first half on the way to a 7-0 decision over the 1-7 Tigers. Coach Bret Weekes said Cole Bennett andBurke Weekes helped a banged-up Tiger team stiffen up defensively after the break.
