ADDISON COUNTY — On July 19 at 10:13 p.m. Vermont State Police responded to a report that a pickup truck had crashed into a utility pole in Salisbury and that power lines were down. The collision sent the driver and three passengers to the hospital.
The crash occurred on Lower Plains Road near Beaver Pond Road. State police alleged that Robert Labossiere, 22, of Bristol was driving the 2012 Chevrolet 1500 truck when it plowed into the pole. Labossiere was processed and cited for driving under the influence of alcohol after being treated at Porter Hospital for a hand injury. Three others in the truck were taken to Porter for treatment of minor injuries and back pain.
In other recent activity, troopers:
•  On July 14 began investigating an identity theft complaint. Police said someone had started three accounts and obtained three cell phones using a 57-year-old New Haven man’s identity. Police are continuing to warn citizens of identity theft and urging citizens to protect their personal information. •  Received a report of a burglary on July 15 between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. at a Pease Road residence in Panton. Police said the suspect forced entry into the residence and stole jewelry. Anyone with information is asked to contact VSP.
•  On July 17 at 10:03 p.m. cited Darby Crum, 45, of Bridport, for driving under the influence on Watch Point Road in Shoreham.
•  On July 18 at 11:50 p.m. stopped a motor vehicle on Burpee Road in Bristol for a motor vehicle infraction. Police cited Ivan Steadman, 32, of Bristol for driving with a criminally suspended license.
•  On July 19 at 11:30 a.m. received a report of a bundle of approximately 12 hypodermic needles that washed up on a private shoreline on Lake Dunmore in Salisbury. As a public service announcement, troopers are warning swimmers, residents and boaters on Lake Dunmore of this incident. Anyone with information on where the needles came from is asked to contact VSP.
•  On July 19 at 5:12 p.m. responded to a one-car crash with injuries on the Bristol Road in Monkton. Police said their investigation showed that a Middlebury 17-year-old lost control of the 2000 Chevy Impala she was driving and traveled over an embankment, totaling the car and sending the young woman to Porter Hospital to be treated for her injuries. Police said the driver was wearing a seat belt.
•  On July 19 at 8:33 p.m. responded to the intersection of Basin Harbor Road and Panton Road in Panton to assist Vermont game wardens, who apparently had been nearly hit by a vehicle driven by Shirley A. Brown, 39, of Panton. Troopers later took Brown into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence, careless and negligent driving and driving with a criminally suspended license. Brown was transported to the New Haven state police barracks and processed for DUI, third offense, and later released on a citation to appear in court.
•  On July 19 at approximately 11 p.m. responded to a reported noise disturbance on Vershire Riding School Road in Vershire. While speaking with the complainant, a vehicle arrived on scene and the driver, identified as 22-year-old Lauren Thompson of Leicester, exited to speak with troopers. During the conversation, state police suspected Thompson to have been drinking alcohol. Thompson performed standardized field sobriety tests at the roadside and was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence. At the Bradford barracks, Thompson submitted a breath sample with a blood alcohol content of 0.096 percent; the legal limit in Vermont is 0.08. The troopers cited Thompson for DUI.
•  On July 20 at 11:38 p.m. attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 52-year-old Amos Higbee of Ferrisburgh for traveling at 85 mph on States Prison Hollow Road in Monkton. Higbee reportedly led state police on a short chase, at the conclusion of which he was apprehended and cited with DUI, attempting to elude, speeding and careless and negligent driving.
•  On July 21 at 11:13 a.m. were called to investigate the vandalism that took place at a camp on Upper Notch Road in Bristol, where an unknown individual threw a bottle at a camp window and broke it. The value of the window is approximately $600. Anyone with information is asked to contact VSP.
•  On July 21 at 11:23 a.m. were called to investigate the theft of a Stihl weed whacker and a Poulin chainsaw from an unsecured storage shelter at a private residence in Ferrisburgh. The approximate value of both items is $350. Anyone with information is asked to contact VSP.
•  On July 21 at 11:30 a.m. responded to a one-car accident on Lincoln Road in Ripton. Police report that Mr. Yi Wu, 48, of Lawrence, N.J., was driving southbound on the Lincoln Road in a 2006 Toyota van and lost traction. The vehicle traveled into the ditch, overturned, and came to rest on its roof. All passengers were wearing seatbelts and no injuries were reported. The Ripton Rescue Squad responded to the scene and quickly detected a gasoline leak. Police said their immediate actions prevented several gallons of gasoline from spilling into a nearby stream. The van was judged to be a total loss.
•  On July 21 at 4:07 p.m. stopped Aliza Rudinski, 20, of New Haven for speeding on Route 116 in Bristol and cited Rudinski for driving with a criminally suspended license.
•  On Monday, July 22, at 6:20 a.m. responded to a report of a burglary at The Bridge Restaurant in West Addison. The suspects broke a window, possibly using a screwdriver, to gain access to the building. A screwdriver was left at the scene. The case is currently under investigation. •  On July 22 reported that they had cited two young males for vandalism. The investigation started on June 24 and concluded that a Starksboro garden sustained damage when the males drove across a neighbor’s lawn.
