ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police responded to several May 29 reports of burglaries from residents in towns along Lake Champlain.
The first report came from a homeowner on Mount Independence Road in Orwell, where the perpetrator(s) made entry by forcing open a bathroom window and stole prescription medication. The crime is believed to have occurred between May 21 and May 28.
A resident of Middle Road in Bridport reported that burglars stole approximately 35 sets of ear rings in various colors. That same day police received a report of a burglary at a residence off Route 17 West in Addison. Nothing was reported stolen.
However, a different homeowner off Route 17W in Addison also reported a break-in that day, in which several items of jewelry were stolen.

In other recent activity, troopers:
•  On May 28 at 6:35 p.m. stopped a motor vehicle driven by Hassimiou Bangoura, 33, of Barre on Route 116 in Starksboro and cited him for driving under the influence.
•  On May 28 were dispatched to a collision on Route 7 in Salisbury. Their investigation suggested that a minor rear-end collision occurred when Christian Bernhard, 21, of West Rutland driving a red 2010 Subaru failed to leave sufficient space and collided with a 2008 black Nissan driven by Katelyn Bittner, 21, of Milton. Bittner and her passenger, identified as 49-year-old Mark Quintin, were transported to Porter Hospital, though neither reported injuries in follow-up conversations.
•  On May 28 reported that they had cited Tyler Duval, 21, of Starksboro for leaving the scene of an accident. Trooper Hanley reported that on April 24 at just before 10 p.m. VSP responded to a report of a vehicle down the embankment and into the river on Upper Notch Road in Bristol. The vehicle involved did not go into the river but rather onto the rock bed next to the river. Nobody was with the vehicle and the operator never identified himself. Investigation revealed that the operator was Duval, the trooper reported.
•  On May 29 at 1:22 a.m. responded to a one-car crash on Interstate 91 northbound near exit 5 in Westminster. Police report that Larry Steady, 55, of Bristol was driving a 1996 Saab 900 northbound when the vehicle went into the median, and Steady lost control when he overcorrected. The vehicle spun out, crossed both northbound lanes before going off the right side of the road, overturned and came to rest in an upright position.
Steady was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.
Police issued Steady a ticket for failing to maintain safe and proper control of his vehicle within the marked travel lane. Trooper Tim Gould said it appears that the crash was caused by driver fatigue.
•  On May 30 at 2:51 a.m. stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic infraction on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh. Police cited the driver, identified as 39-year-old Liane E. Laible of Charlotte, for driving under the influence of alcohol.
•  On May 30 at 4:28 p.m. received a complaint of a vehicle traveling south on Route 116 in Starksboro in an erratic manner. It was reported that the vehicle traveled off the roadway, struck a mailbox and continued southbound. State police later stopped the vehicle on West Street in Bristol and cited the driver, identified as 22-year-old Kelsey M. French of Lincoln, for driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident and endangerment of a child.
•  On May 30 at approximately 6:52 p.m. stopped a vehicle on State Street in Rutland City for a motor vehicle violation and cited the driver, identified as 30-year-old Mathew A. Billings of Middlebury, for driving with a criminally suspended license.
•  On May 31 at 6:40 p.m. responded to an accident on Monkton Road at Dean Road in Ferrisburgh. Police reported that Tobias Yandow, 19, of St. George was driving a Subaru Forester westbound on Monkton Road when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with two guardrails causing extensive damage to the entire passenger side of the vehicle. Yandow did not remain on scene and was found by troopers later that evening. Ultimately, they cited Yandow for careless and negligent driving.
•  On May 31 at 8:30 p.m. stopped a car driven by William A. Fox, 36, of Bomoseen on Route 7 in New Haven for a motor vehicle violation. VSP Capt. Patch cited Fox for driving with a criminally suspended license.
•  On June 1 at 12:38 a.m. cited Charles Stinchfield, 22, of Vergennes for possession of marijuana stemming from a motor vehicle stop on Town Beach Road in Ferrisburgh.
•  On June 1 at 10:42 a.m. cited Justin Moulton, 31, of Addison for driving with a criminally suspended license on Route 22A in Addison.
•  On June 1 at 5 p.m. received a complaint of a burglary at a Goshen-Ripton Road residence in Goshen, where hundreds of dollars worth of sugaring equipment was reported stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact VSP.
•  On June 1 at 11:23 p.m., while investigating a complaint made by 29-year-old Collin Bell of Bristol, police found that Bell was in possession of marijuana. The trooper charged Bell with possession of marijuana.
•  On June 2 at just past midnight responded to a report of an underage drinking party off Maple Street in Waltham. They cited Jacob Firlik, 20, of Vergennes with consumption of alcohol by a minor.
•  On June 2 at 4:16 p.m. responded to Auto Creek on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh for a reported theft of a trunk lid with a spoiler on it from a blue 2006 Subaru WRX STI. It was valued at approximately $1,200-$1,500. Anybody with any information is asked to contact VSP.
•  On June 2 at 6:27 p.m. responded to a vandalism complaint of a farm field on the Bristol Road in Monkton. The landowner said he had seen an older, blue Subaru with rust in the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact VSP.
•  On June 3 reported that they had cited Winter Rocafeller-Rousso, 48, of Barre for disturbing the peace by use of telephone following a VSP investigation. Investigation by a trooper from the New Haven barracks suggested that Rocafeller-Rousso called the victim, a Panton woman, more than 40 times to harass and threaten her about the purchase of a kitten. Rocafeller-Rousso reportedly continued to contact the victim after state police asked her to stop.
•  On June 3 at approximately 7 p.m. stopped a vehicle on Route 7 in Middlebury because of a motor vehicle violation and ended up citing a passenger, identified as 23-year-old Christopher J. Burnie of Rutland, for possession of a misdemeanor amount of marijuana.
