Eagle athletes win events at CVU track and field meet
HINESBURG — Mount Abraham Union High School track and field athletes on Thursday won three events at a four-team meet hosted by Champlain Valley, and recorded top-three finishes in several other disciplines.
Winning were Asa Learmonth at 400 meters in a time of 54.8, Josh Cousineau in the high jump with a leap of five feet, and Ian Bachand in the discus with a throw of 105 feet, 7.5 inches. Learmonth was also second at 200 meters, and Bachand took second in the shot put (times and distances were only available for first-place efforts).
The Eagle boys fared better than the Eagle girls, who had only one third-place finisher, Amanda Vincent in the javelin. CVU won the boys event with 152 points, followed by North Country (40), Mount Abe (38.5) and Oxbow (22)
CVU (148) also coasted in the girls’ team competition, followed by NCU (45), Oxbow (28) and Mount Abe (11).
Other Eagle boys posting top-three finishes were Silas Pohlman, who was third in both the 110-meter hurdles and pole vault, and Chris Carter, who was third in the 300-meter hurdles.
