BRISTOL — On Dec. 23, 2012, at 2:55 p.m. Bristol police observed a white Chevrolet Tahoe with an expired Vermont inspection sticker traveling south on Liberty Street from Kountry Trailer Park. The occupants of the vehicle were known from prior involvements.
Police stopped the Tahoe for the inspection sticker violation, and investigation at the scene resulted in a follow-up investigation and a search warrant yielding evidence the subjects were involved in drug trafficking and trading weapons for drugs, according to Bristol Police Chief Kevin Gibbs.
This case has been taken on by federal investigators and federal drug and weapons charges are pending, Gibbs reports. the Drug Enforcement Agency and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms continues to investigate.
Bristol police this week provided information going back to December to catch up on the log of their activities. Here is the first installment; look for more in future editions. In addition to the drug and gun investigation, Bristol police:
•  On Dec. 4 at 12:54 p.m. received a report from a resident that a Dell laptop computer was taken by a healthcare worker who had been at her house. The computer was recovered and returned to its owner. No further action is planned based on the resident’s request.
•  On Dec. 5 looked into a report that a former resident of the Kountry Trailer Park was on the property taking wood from under the porch but found no one there and no signs anyone had been there.
•  On Dec. 5 stopped a driver reported to be driving recklessly. The driver was not impaired and claimed his speedometer was not working. Police warned the operator for speeding and defective equipment.
•  On Dec. 9 lodged an adult, medium-sized black Lab at the dog pound after a report of the dog loose at a local business.
•  On Dec. 11 helped an elderly resident locked out of the house by climbing in through a kitchen window.
•  On Dec. 11 identified a suspect in a case where two bricks were thrown through windows of a West Pleasant Street home.
•  On Dec. 12 cited a 15-year-old male for possession of marijuana, which had been seized from him at Mount Abraham Union High School.
•  On Dec. 13 made a report to the Department of Children and Families regarding an incident at Bristol Elementary School. A parent said her 9-year-old daughter had been assaulted on the playground by three boys during school hours on Dec. 11.
•  On Dec. 15 cited Jessica Morrill-Gabbiett, 31, of Lincoln for petit larceny. Police alleged that she had stolen money from the purse of an elderly female customer in line at the Rite Aid pharmacy.
•  On Dec. 15 helped a School Street resident with a problem involving his vehicle.
•  On Dec. 18 were told that a Sony Ericsson Xperia cell phone with an AT&T plan was found in the parking lot near the Hub teen center. The phone was held at the Hub for the owner to claim.
•  On Dec. 18 at 9:58 p.m. received a report that a vehicle had damaged a gas pump at Champlain Farms. The vehicle had left the scene but a description and plate had been obtained. Police contacted the local owner of the vehicle, who returned and provided her information for insurance documentation.
•  On Dec. 19 located Dylan Racine, 24, who was wanted on a warrant, and lodged him at the Chittenden County Correctional Center.
•  On Dec. 21 received a report of a bad check. Police cited Kathleen Gorton, 34, of Bristol for passing a bad check when she failed to make restitution.
•  On Dec. 21 at 6:31 p.m. received a report that a man was seen removing plates from a vehicle and putting the plates under his coat. Police located the man near Rite Aid, holding a cordless drill. The officer determined he had just sold his truck and removed his plates.
•  On Dec. 29 at 8:03 p.m. received a report of an attempted theft at Shaw’s supermarket. Shaw’s staff stopped a male and a female suspect attempting to leave the store with a grocery cart full of store merchandise. The suspects fled prior to arrival of police but were later identified.
•  On Dec. 30 at 10:38 a.m. looked into a report of heating fuel stolen from a Mountain Street home. Tracks in the snow were covered by the previous night’s snow and no suspects were identified.
•  On Jan. 2 at 9:26 a.m. cited a local 17-year-old for unlawful trespass at Mount Abraham Union High School when he came to the school with his brother.
•  On Jan. 3 at 5:39 a.m. received a report that a woman who sounded very intoxicated was locked out of a Mountain Street home and the temperature was 13 degrees below zero. Police located the woman returning to her home on Main Street, and found her not injured, so no further action was taken.
•  On Jan. 3 cited a local 17-year-old for petit larceny in connection with the theft from Mount Abe of a bag containing a laptop computer, an iPod and $80 cash.
•  On Jan. 3 at 9:57 p.m. received a report of a 14-year-old male smashing a flat-screen TV. After review of the case by the Addison County State’s Attorney the juvenile was cited for unlawful mischief.
