Dance team’s success in hip-hop continues

JERICHO — The Middlebury Union High School dance team on Saturday at Mount Mansfield continued its dominance of the hip-hop category, but after taking third in jazz were edged for the overall title by Lamoille, which finished a strong second in both the hip-hop and jazz categories.
Host Mount Mansfield won the jazz title and finished third overall, while Burr & Burton won the pom category and finished fourth in hip-hop and took fourth overall.
The Tigers were coming off overall and hip-hop titles in a competition at Mount Anthony the weekend before.
The overall standings in Jericho were Lamoille, 437.25; MUHS, 433.5; MMU, 419.5; and Burr & Burton, 385.
Also competing were BFA-St. Albans (305.5), Springfield (266) and Missisquoi (265).
Scores in the individual disciplines were as follows:
Jazz:
1. Mount Mansfield, 218.5.
2. Lamoille, 217.75.
3. MUHS, 202.25.
4. BFA-St. Albans, 162.
5. Springfield, 149.
Hip-hop:
1. MUHS, 231.25.
2. Lamoille, 219.5.
3. Mount Mansfield, 201.
4. Burr & Burton, 184.
5. BFA, 143.5.
6. Missisquoi, 120.5.
7. Springfield, 117.
Pom:
1. Burr & Burton, 201.
2. Missisquoi, 144.5.
