VERGENNES — Vergennes police jailed a female Northlands Job Corps student on Sunday after charging her with assaulting another female Northlands student.
City police on Dec. 2 cited Seantise Richardson, 19, of Newark, N.J., for both simple assault and obstruction of justice. Police alleged that Richardson kneed the female victim in the nose and then threatened the victim with further bodily harm if she told the police about the assault. Police lodged Richardson in the Chittenden County Correctional Center.
In other incidents between Nov. 26 and Dec. 2, Vergennes police:
•  On Nov. 27 cited Bianca Dwy, 24, of Bridport for a criminal offense of driving with a suspended license after a Panton Road traffic stop; police said Vermont State Police had filed a similar charge against Dwy a week before.
•  On Nov. 27 helped motorists get into their locked cars on Hopkins and Panton roads and on South Maple Street.
•  On Nov. 27 intervened in a civil dispute between a contractor and a Main Street apartment resident; police stood by while the contractor retrieved tools from the apartment and also issued the contractor a no-trespass order.
•  On Nov. 28 warned a Main Street resident not to yell at customers of a neighboring bank.
•  On Nov. 28 handled a two-car accident at the intersection of School and Main streets.
•  On Nov. 28 searched unsuccessfully for a suspicious vehicle seen on South Maple Street.
•  On Nov. 28 received a tip about illegal drug activity.
•  On Nov. 29 backed up VSP at an Addison family fight.
•  On Nov. 29 joined Vergennes Union High School personnel in speaking with a student with academic problems.
•  On Nov. 29 began an investigation after being told by a resident that her son had come home under the influence of drugs.
•  On Nov. 29 held a Route 7 motorist who had brandished a knife at another motorist until VSP could arrive and process the road rage case.
•  On Nov. 29 went to Burpee Road in Bristol with the department canine, whose work detected the presence of marijuana in a vehicle and led to a VSP arrest, police said.
•  On Nov. 29 reported to Northland personnel that students without IDs had cursed at Kinney Drugs personnel who had refused to sell them cigarettes, and that the students had then tried to recruit a third party to purchase for them.
•  On Nov. 30 aided VSP at the scene of the Route 7 accident that claimed the life of Vergennes Rep. Greg Clark.
•  On Nov. 30 looked for but couldn’t find a woman who was reported to be driving while intoxicated near the post office.
•  On Nov. 30 responded to a complaint of a suspicious car in the Union Street-Comfort Hill area and asked a vacuum cleaner salesman to return during daylight hours.
•  On Nov. 30 searched unsuccessfully for a driver with a suspended license seen driving near Champlain Farms.
•  On Nov. 30 went to remove a dead deer from Kayhart Crossing on behalf of VSP and found it had been removed already.
